HDPA is...
A nonprofit organization formed in 2006 by community members dedicated to the preservation, enhancement and revitalization of Prosser's downtown core.

Our Mission
Create a vibrant and prosperous downtown

Our Organization

  • Board of Directors and Organization Committee: Increase involvement by providing effective leadership.
  • Design Committee: Encourage visual improvements through good design compatible with historic features.
  • Promotion Committee: Promote downtown as the community's historic and economic center.  Economic Restructuring Committee: Strengthen and diversify the economic base.

Membership Benefits
Design Committee offers assistance for enhancing the appearance of downtown buildings and streetscape. A palette of recommended paint colors has been developed to complement downtown's historic architecture and local paint suppliers offer a discount to business and property owners who select from this palette. The committee has also identified recommendations for awning materials. The committee is currently developing a plan for creating a welcoming and cohesive streetscape through the use of benches, trash receptacles, and planters.

Economic Restructuring Committee offers support and services to strengthen and diversify the economic base of the downtown business core. They have established a Secret Shopper program to provide business owners with candid feedback on customer experiences and perceptions for the purpose of improving business practices and employee performance. The committee also plans to schedule Roundtable Sessions so that business owners can discuss common issues, share ideas, and collaborate on solutions. Future plans include conducting a business survey and identifying additional needs and desires of the core downtown community.

Promotion Committee coordinates group advertising to promote downtown businesses to reduce your advertising expenses. This committee also promotes the Association and its members at community events and through educational and public relation activities. They have established a Holiday Window Decoration Contest and have plans to expand holiday events that will encourage local patronage. An historic coloring book is in development that can be used by members as a customer give-away or for resale. Plans are also underway to create a While in Prosser guide and self-guided Historical Downtown Walking Tour.

Organization Committee provides guidance and structure for the operation of the Association and serves as advocate of the HDPA mission. This committee also works with the Board of Directors to plan and conduct the Annual Meeting and Membership Drive and maintains the Membership Directory.
